I signed up for a trial subscription for microsoft office just yesterday. However I didn't realize I didn't sign up for the desktop license and I need to cancel the trial subscription. However i'm either given a link that doesn't work to remove the payment so that i'm not charged, or a field that requiring an email to chat with a representative that wont allow me to enter the required email.

Please help

Hi, See: Cancel your free trial of Microsoft 365 Family

I am not sure what you have signed up for, but the trial version is a desktop version? Unless you mean that you wanted a perpetual version such as Microsoft 365 Home? https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/p/office-home-2024/cfq7ttc0pqvj

Can you sign in with the Microsoft Account associated with your trial version here: https://account.microsoft.com/services You will see the subscription and you can cancel it. Click on>Manage

    Hello Jennifer Raymond,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand that you are having issue with cancelling a Trial Subscription. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

    Please try these steps:

    1. Open your browser and go to account.microsoft.com/services
    2. Sign in with the exact Microsoft account you used to start the trial
      • This is critical using a different email will hide the Cancel option.
    3. Find your Microsoft 365 subscription
    4. Look for one of these:
      • Cancel > select it and follow the prompts
      • Turn on recurring billing > this means billing is already OFF and you will not be charged
    5. Confirm the cancellation if prompted

Once canceled, the trial will end and no payment will be taken.

If you don’t see a “Cancel” button, this usually means one of the following:

    • Recurring billing is already off If you see “Turn on recurring billing”, your trial will simply expire, and you won’t be charged nothing else is required.
    • Wrong account is signed in Sign out and try any other email addresses you may have used. Microsoft subscriptions are tied strictly to the purchasing account.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,

To cancel your trial subscription for Microsoft Office, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Turn off recurring billing to prevent future charges. This can typically be done in the billing section of your account settings.
    3. If you don't turn off recurring billing, you will be charged after the trial period ends.
    4. If your trial subscription does not have a payment method associated with it, you can simply let it expire at the end of the trial period without being charged.

If you encounter issues with links or fields not working, you may want to try accessing the admin center from a different browser or clearing your browser cache. If problems persist, contacting Microsoft support directly for assistance would be advisable.
