    Hi @Frances Murtaugh,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

The Hotkey Keyboard Class Filter Driver error usually indicates that Windows is trying to apply a specialized laptop keyboard driver to your USB wireless receiver instead of using the standard HID (Human Interface Device) driver. Since most wireless presenters (including QUI models) are designed to be Plug & Play, they don't typically require a separate download.

To resolve this, please follow these steps to manually assign the correct driver:

1/ Manually Update via Device Manager

    • Plug your USB receiver into the computer.
    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Keyboards section. Look for a device with a yellow exclamation mark or one labeled "HID Keyboard Device."
    • Right-click that device and select Update driver.
    • Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
    • Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
    • Select HID Keyboard Device from the list and click Next to install it. This forces Windows to treat the receiver as a standard input device.

    2/ Reinstall OEM Hotkey Software

If you are using a laptop, the specific "Filter Driver" mentioned is often part of your manufacturer's specialized software. If the step above doesn't work, try reinstalling the keyboard utility from your laptop’s support page:

    • HP: HP Hotkey Support
    • ASUS: ATK Package / ASUS System Control Interface
    • kLenovo/Dell: Search for Keyboard Filter Driver or Hotkey Utility on the support site for your specific model.

    3/ Hardware Quick-Checks

If the driver is installed but the device still fails to work:

    • Check the Battery: Even if the laser works, the wireless signal requires more power. Try a fresh AAA battery.
    • USB Port: Move the receiver to a USB 2.0 port if possible, as some 2.4GHz receivers experience interference when plugged into USB 3.0 (blue) ports.
    • Re-pairing: Many presenters can be re-paired by holding the "Connect" button (or a combination like Page Up + Page Down) while plugging in the USB receiver.

I hope this helps get your presenter working again. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
