I cannot receive any emails on my account other than Junk. I can send emails however. This issue began last week when my account was hacked. How do I fix this?

    Hello Mike North

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that your emails are still being directed to the Junk folder following a security breach.

When an Outlook account is compromised, attackers often set up "hidden" rules to divert your mail. This explains why you can still send emails, but aren't receiving them in your Inbox. Before contacting Microsoft Support for a live chat, please try the following:

    1. Check for malicious Rules
    • Sign in to Outlook on the web via a browser (not the mobile app).
    • Click the Gear icon (Settings) at the top right. Go to Mail > Rules.
    • Look for any rules you didn't create, especially those with random characters or instructions to "Move to Junk" or "Delete."
    • Delete those rules immediately.
    1. Check Forwarding Settings

In the same Settings menu, go to Mail > Forwarding. Ensure your mail isn't being forwarded to an external, unrecognized address.

If your emails continue to go to the Junk folder after following these steps, you can contact Microsoft Support by following these steps:

    • Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact and log in.
    • Type "Technical Support" in the search box and press Enter.
    • Scroll past the help articles and click the Contact Support button at the bottom.
    • Select Microsoft 365 and Office (or Outlook) and choose Technical Support.
    • Select the option to "Chat with a support agent in your web browser."

To prevent this from happening again, please visit your Microsoft Security Dashboard to:

    • Change your password (if you haven't since the hack).
    • Sign out of all locations (found under Advanced Security Options).
    • Enable Two-Step Verification (MFA) using an app like Microsoft Authenticator. This is the most effective way to secure your account.

I truly appreciate your time and understanding.
