Someone with physical possession of a computer can tamper with it in ways that a hacker cannot, so BitLocker was designed to detect and thwart the actions that a thief might use on a Windows PC.
The BitLocker recovery key for your computer is located in the Microsoft account that was used to install Windows most recently.
