    Hi,

Upgrading to Windows 11 depends on whether your computer meets all the system requirements. To check, try running the PC Health Check tool: https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp

Click the Check now button, then share a screenshot of the result.

Windows 11 needs enough free space on the system drive (usually C:), not just total disk size. Adding a 500 GB drive or partition does not help if the C: drive itself is still almost full.

Do the following on the Windows 10 device:

    1. Check free space on C:
      • Open Settings > System > Storage.
      • Confirm how much free space is on Local Disk (C:). Windows typically needs at least 20 GB free for a 64‑bit upgrade, and Windows 11 may require more.
    2. Free up space on C:
      • In Settings > System > Storage, turn on Storage Sense and let it clean temporary files.
      • Use Disk Cleanup (search for it in Start) and select options like Temporary files, Windows Update Cleanup, etc.
      • Uninstall apps and games from C: that are not needed.
      • Move large personal files (videos, photos, downloads) from C: to the new 500 GB drive.
    3. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter (if using Windows Update to get Windows 11):
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Find Windows Update and select Run.
      • Follow the on‑screen steps.
    4. Try the Windows 11 upgrade again:
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
      • If Windows 11 is offered, choose Download and install.

If there is still not enough space on C: after cleanup, more files must be moved or removed from that drive. The extra 500 GB only helps if space is actually freed on the system drive where Windows is installed.

Also ensure the device meets the Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements and is on a supported version of Windows 10 before upgrading.
