Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Have you tried the Account recovery form? If you haven't, use the Microsoft Account Recovery form to recover your account.

    https://account.live.com/acsr

Important: The account recovery form can only be used if two-step verification isn't turned on.

The Account Recovery Form requires adequate information to prove that you are the owner of the account. The Account Recovery Process can be a time consuming process, but providing as much info as possible from the start of the process will increase the possibility of being verified by the automated process. You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft.

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you, and if you are not verified, you will need to submit the Account Recovery form again. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

    Hi Mukesh Gupta,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I am sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. I understand how frustrating it is to lose access to your Microsoft account, especially when it affects Office 365.

For security reasons, Microsoft does not unlock Microsoft accounts manually via email or purchase information. Even if Office 365 was purchased, account access can only be restored through Microsoft’s automated security verification process.

Please try the following official steps:

If this email address is a work or school account managed by an organization, please contact your Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to review the account status in the Microsoft 365 / Entra admin center.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.

    Thank you for your understanding.

The account can only be unlocked through the self-service recovery and security processes; no one on this forum can directly unlock it.

Use these steps depending on what is happening when signing in:

    1. If the account shows as locked when signing in
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com (or the Microsoft account sign-in page) and try to sign in with the locked account.
      • Follow the prompt to get a security code. Any phone number that can receive SMS can be used; it does not need to be already associated with the account or be a smartphone.
      • Enter the code and, if prompted, create a new strong password.
      • If the page reports “That Microsoft account doesn’t exist” or “I can’t sign in,” use the Microsoft account sign-in helper linked from the article.
    2. If the Outlook.com mailbox specifically is blocked
      • Use the Sign-in Helper at Sign-in Helper to start the unblock process for Outlook.com.
      • If unblocking fails with the code or password change, follow the guidance under “When you can’t sign in to your Microsoft account” from that page.
    3. If security codes are not arriving or security info is lost
      • If there is still access to at least one security method (phone/email), sign in to Advanced security options and add a new way to sign in or verify, confirm it with a code, then remove outdated methods.
      • If all security info is lost but the password is known, start sign-in, choose I don't have any of these at the “Verify your identity” step, and follow the process to replace security info. After replacement, there is a 30‑day restriction period before normal sign-in is allowed.
    4. If the password is not accepted and all verification options are blocked
      • Use the Microsoft Account Recovery form from a familiar device and usual location, as described in the recovery guidance.
      • Fill in as much accurate information as possible (previous passwords, usage details, etc.).
      • After submitting, wait for the email response (typically within 24 hours). If the account cannot be verified, the form can be retried up to two times per day.
    5. If this is the only admin account for a Microsoft 365 business tenant
      • The Data Protection team must verify identity and restore admin access. This requires contacting Microsoft Support by phone or via a separate tenant, as described in the Q&A guidance, so they can open a service request and perform identity verification.

Account unlocking and recovery are fully controlled by these automated and protected flows; support agents and forum moderators cannot bypass them or directly reset passwords. Use the appropriate path above based on whether this is a personal Microsoft account or the sole admin of a business tenant, and wait out any lockout or 30‑day security-info-change periods if they apply.
