Hi Graham Collins,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.
I am sorry that you have had to spend so much time on this. You can refer to the options below to create an additional Outlook dot com email address.
1. Add a new Outlook dot com address as an alias that shares the same mailbox
- Go to the Microsoft page named Add an alias and sign in with your Microsoft account if you are prompted to do so.
- Under Add an alias, choose one of the following options:
- Create a new Outlook dot com email address and add it as an alias.
- Add an existing email address as an alias.
- Select Add alias to complete the process.
Please note that aliases use the same inbox, contacts, and settings as the primary email address, and you can sign in using any alias. You cannot add an email address that already belongs to another Microsoft account. If you remove an alias that uses a Microsoft domain such as Outlook dot com or Hotmail dot com, that alias will be permanently deleted and cannot be reused.
2. Create a completely new Outlook dot com address with a separate mailbox
- If you want a separate inbox, you must sign out of Outlook dot com and then create a new Microsoft account. This will create a new Outlook dot com email address with its own inbox and settings.
- About the Outlook dot com dot au domain
- If you want to use the Outlook dot com dot au domain but do not see it as an available option when creating an alias or a new account, you need to select one of the domains that are shown on the address creation page.
