It seems that Sharepoint did an update that changed the way to get the quick link button links. I now cannot paste URLs when I am trying to add links to the "quick links" tool using the URL option below. Has anyone discovered a work around to this issue? I copy and paste pretty long URLs so I would prefer not to have to write them out manually.

    Dear @Grace K,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Thank you for reporting this and for sharing the screenshot, I understand your concern.

Based on your description, you’re experiencing an issue where URLs can no longer be pasted into the Quick Links web part using the “From a link” option, which appears to have started after a recent SharePoint update.

I’ve also noticed that other users have reported similar behavior recently, for example in the thread “quicklinks webpart to site's documentlibrary's not working any more since latest release” on Microsoft Q&A, which suggests this may be related to a recent change in the Quick Links experience rather than a local configuration issue.

That said, I tested this scenario in my own environment (not as the original poster), and at the moment I’m still able to paste URLs into the Quick Links > From a link field and save them successfully. This indicates that the behavior may not be occurring consistently across all tenants or sites.

Given this inconsistency, it would be helpful to verify whether:

The issue occurs across multiple sites in your tenant

It reproduces for other users as well

It happens in newly added Quick Links web parts versus existing ones

If the behavior persists only in specific sites or tenants, opening a support ticket via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center would allow Microsoft Support to investigate whether this is a rollout-related issue or a product regression affecting certain environments.

You can raise support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>Help & Support.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you again for raising this, your feedback is valuable, especially when changes in behavior impact common workflows like copying and pasting long URLs.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,

Answers provided in this thread : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5782424/quicklinks-webpart-to-sites-documentlibrarys-not-w?page=1&orderby=Helpful&translated=false#answers really helped me a lot.

I was able to add library links to the quick links using those methods provided any one of them works

    • Adding "?web=1" at the end of the URL after .aspx.
    • Copying and using the URL that has a view id of All documents in the library.

Pasting URLs into Quick Links still works, but recent changes in Edge and SharePoint can change how the pasted URL is interpreted. Try these workarounds:

    1. Use the Quick Links web part’s standard add-link flow
      1. Put the page in edit mode and add or edit the Quick links web part.
      2. Select + Add.
      3. Choose A link (or equivalent URL option), then paste the URL into the address field.
      4. Confirm with Insert.
This is the supported way described for Quick Links in modern pages and in the News-for-email Quick Links web part.
    2. Force plain-text pasting in Microsoft Edge If Edge is pasting a “smart” link or title instead of the raw URL, change the default paste behavior:
      1. In Edge, go to SettingsShare, Copy & Paste.
      2. Under Share, Copy & Paste, select Plain text instead of Link.
      3. Now copy the URL again and paste into the Quick Links URL box; it will paste as the full web address.
    3. Use the Text web part as a fallback If the Quick Links URL box still misbehaves, paste the URL into a Text web part first (where URLs automatically become hyperlinks), then right‑click the hyperlink, choose Copy link, and paste that copied address into the Quick Links URL field.

These approaches avoid having to type long URLs manually and align with the current SharePoint and Edge behavior for links and pasting.
