On a personal (home) OneDrive, file and folder sharing is available with the free OneDrive account as well as with paid consumer Microsoft 365 subscriptions. There is no special “sharing package” that must be purchased just to enable basic sharing.

However, there are limits and restrictions depending on the type of account:

1. Free or “storage only” OneDrive (including Microsoft 365 Basic)
   • Sharing is supported, but there are sharing limits.
   • Heavy sharing activity can hit daily limits; when that happens, sharing may be temporarily blocked.
   • Limits reset after 24 hours.
   • These plans do not add advanced Office desktop apps, but they do allow sharing from OneDrive on the web and the OneDrive apps.
2. Premium consumer subscriptions (for example, Microsoft 365 Personal/Family)
   • Include increased sharing limits and more sharing features compared to basic or “storage only” OneDrive.
