Try these steps in order on Windows 11:
- Check touchpad settings
- Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
Or use this shortcut: Open Touchpad settings
- Make sure Touchpad is turned On.
- Under Scroll & zoom, make sure Drag two fingers to scroll is turned On.
- Verify gestures are enabled (for touchscreens)
If the device also has a touchscreen and gestures there are not working either:
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touch.
Or use: Open Bluetooth & devices > Touch
- Make sure Three and four-finger touch gestures is On and that Touch screen edge gestures options are On.
- Update the touchpad driver
A Windows 10 → 11 upgrade can leave an old driver in place.
- Use Windows Update to install any available driver updates.
(See: Automatically get recommended and updated hardware drivers in the linked article.)
- If needed, update via Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager (search for it from Start).
- Look under Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices for the touchpad.
- Right-click the touchpad device and choose Update driver.
- Reinstall the touchpad driver (if still not working)
- In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices, right‑click the touchpad device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart the PC; Windows will reinstall the driver automatically when connected to the internet.
If two‑finger scroll still does not work after these steps, the touchpad hardware may not support precision gestures in Windows 11, or a manufacturer‑specific driver from the laptop vendor may be required.
