I was added to a Family Subscription but when I try to use the desktop applications (Office 365) it says I don't have a license. I am clearly part of the Family, as it states in my profile alongside with my family members. I am using the same e-mail address. When it download the package, try to activate, it states "no license".

Did they both add you to the family and share the sybscription with you? Are you able to download office from the subscription page?

    • the family subscription is OK, everyone else can use it but me
    • I got invited, accepted, worked for a while, but randomly singed me out and can't activate back. The organizer did not kick me out.

Being listed in a Microsoft 365 Family subscription does not automatically mean the desktop apps on the Mac are activated; activation depends on the account and license actually associated with the apps.

    Use these checks and steps:

    1. Confirm the correct subscription type
    • Only Microsoft 365 Family or Personal subscriptions include the right to install and activate the desktop apps.
    • If the organizer has a different plan (for example, Microsoft 365 Basic), that plan does not include desktop apps and will cause the “no license” message even if the family sharing is set up correctly.
    • The organizer should sign in to their Microsoft account at the Subscriptions page and verify that the subscription is Microsoft 365 Family and is active.
    1. Verify the account used in the Office apps on the Mac
    • Open Word (or another Office app) on the Mac.
    • In the top-right of the app, check the account shown.
    • Make sure it is the same email address that was added to the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
    • If not, sign out of all accounts in the app, then sign back in using the email that is part of the Family subscription.
    1. Check that the license is actually assigned to that account
    • For home subscriptions, each invited family member must accept the sharing invitation and use their own Microsoft account to sign in.
    • If the invitation was not accepted with the same account being used on the Mac, the apps will show “no license.”
    1. Reinstall or re-activate Office if needed
    • If the wrong edition or an old/non‑subscription Office version is installed, uninstall it and then reinstall from the Microsoft 365 portal while signed in with the correct Family member account.
    • After reinstall, open an app, sign in with the Family member account, and let it activate.

If, after these steps, the apps still say there is no license, the Family organizer should re-check the subscription status and sharing from their account dashboard and, if necessary, contact Microsoft support.
