When I click on my calendar icon in Outlook, it defaults to view the early morning hours (12 - 7 AM) - which are grayed-out non-working hours - instead of my work hours. This did not happen before today.

    Hi @G. Stein

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you very much for reaching out regarding your Outlook Calendar opening at the early morning hours (12–7 AM) instead of your working hours. I appreciate your patience and the details you provided.

This behavior usually occurs when a calendar view setting has changed, your working hours or time zone has shifted, or Outlook encounters a temporary view cache glitch.

Here are my recommendations, please follow the steps below:

1/ Go to File > Options > Calendar

In the Work hours and location section:

    • Set the correct Start time and End time (e.g., 8:00-17:00).
    • Select your appropriate Work days.
    • Verify that your Time zone is correct.
    • User's image

2/ In the Calendar view (main Outlook window)

    • Open the View tab.
    • Switch to Work Week (or your preferred view).
    • User's image
    • Click Reset View to restore the default layout.
    • User's image

3/ Resetting Outlook view with a command

    • Close Outlook.
    • Press Win + R and run: outlook.exe /cleanviews
    • User's image

(Note: this resets all custom calendar views to default.)

    4/ Contact Microsoft Support

If the issue persists even after these steps, it may stem from a deeper system-level cause. In this case, I recommend contacting your organization's IT administrator, who can submit a support request to Microsoft through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. They’ll be able to access system-level information to investigate the issue thoroughly and provide assistance. At the very least, they can offer the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to reach out.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
