No access to BitLocker email

My laptop crashed and came up with the BitLocker screen. The problem is that my parents gave me the laptop as a gift and set it up ahead so it could be used immediately and my dad forgot the email he made to set it up (they didn't want notifications to ruin the surprise) as well as its login information. From the available information, if I can't access that email it seems I can't access my laptop again. I have tried looking at everything on the website and none of it was helpful for this situation. The customer service phone i eventually found after extensive searching keeps hanging up on me and referring me to the website because I'm a home user. Please help

I'm afraid that's going to be a real problem, because the BitLocker recovery key for that computer is stored in the Microsoft account that your parents used to setup Windows on that computer. Without access to that Microsoft account, you will never retrieve the recovery key and there's nothing that anyone can do about it, not even Microsoft.

Ask your folks to try to remember the username and password of the Microsoft account that was used to setup Windows. Or perhaps they used a PIN or a fingerprint? You don't suppose they made a backup copy of the recovery key?

That's part of the issue, my dad made a whole new email to set it up and can't remember the email itself or any other login information for it. I can't afford a new laptop if this one is done for

It isn't 'done for' ... you just have to set it up again, but that means you'll lose everything that was on the hard drive.

All PCs from the big name manufacturers include an unseen partition on the hard drive that can reinstall everything that was originally on the computer. Your computer will look and work exactly as it did when it left the factory. No worries about activation since you're merely reinstalling what was already there. The manufacturer has complete directions, or I can point you in the right direction.

If BitLocker won't let you get there, you're still not done for. You just have to reinstall everything manually, which is tedious but aside from that it's nothing you can't handle.

If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, no-one, not even Microsoft Support can find the associated Bitlocker Key.

On the link below be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

Are you able to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used or linked to the laptop?

If not, do you have a safe backup of your files, or use a cloud service like OneDrive to sync your files online.

The only BitLocker Recovery Key on the account I have access to is to an old laptop that was bricked long before this one was even bought. I might have backups somewhere but I wouldn't know how to find them. I can try an old school account and see if it's in there. What will happen if I can't find it?

If you are unable to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used on that device, then I am sorry for the bad news, the only way to access that device is to create a bootable Windows USB on another working PC and use that to clean install Windows and at the start of the installation, delete all partitions on the drive to remove the encryption, which will sadly result in loss of all data on the drive.
