I received microsoft email ... subject ace online sql database billing question.

I believe this is a phissing email.. Can you confirm this or tell me what this is? I do not want this and i am afraid that by trying to delete that i have started some process? Please advise.. Thank you.

I got a similar email from microsoft.com saying that aceonline aceonline shared this KQL Database with me, and the email went on to cite a purchase through paypal of Microsoft Office. It included a New Jersey phone number for questions or clarification. I'll just dismiss it as a scam, but it is possible that someone at microsoft participated in the scam since it is a valid Microsoft email address.

It's not that anyone at Microsoft participated, it's that this is a system-generated email. Essentially, the scammer creates a database on Microsoft's platform and then shares it (through the platform) with whatever emails he puts in. Then the system automatically notifies recipients that the database has been shared with them via individual email notifications. The auto-email itself is legitimate, but the content of the KQL Database (i.e., the payment reminder) is fraudulent. It's basically a way for scammers to deliver phishing attempts from a legitimate email address and bypass spam filters, with their goal being that people will call the number and hand over personal information.

So Microsoft itself isn't participating, but given that I've gotten 10 of these emails in the past week, the fact that Microsoft hasn't done anything about this is a huge security failure on their part.

Now, that makes sense. Microsoft should clamp down on this. It seems like they should be able to trace a record of who they are and what they are doing.

I received the exact same thing and it looks legit but I never subscribed to this and its not showing in my account so what is it? came from Microsoftmicrosoft-noreply@microsoft.com Looks very legit wondering if there was a blip of some sort and it was sent out by mstake or if this is good phishing?
