Hi Sourabh Kamble,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that Microsoft Defender Virus & threat protection is not displaying on your laptop.
Before we proceed, I’d like to narrow this down a bit to better understand the scope:
- Which Windows version are you currently using (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?
- Do you have any third‑party antivirus or security software installed on this device, even if it was installed previously?
In the meantime, you can try these steps:
1, Restart the Windows Security related services
- Press Windows key + R, type
services.msc, and press Enter - Restart Windows Security Service and Security Center
2, Reset the Windows Security app
- Open Settings, go to Apps, then Installed apps
- Locate Windows Security, select Advanced options, and click Reset
3, Check if Defender is disabled by policy
- Press Windows key + R, type
gpedit.msc, and press Enter - Navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Microsoft Defender Antivirus
- Make sure Turn off Microsoft Defender Antivirus is set to Not configured
4, Temporarily disable third‑party antivirus (if applicable)
- If another antivirus is installed, temporarily disable or uninstall it
- Restart the device and check if Defender options appear
5, Run system file repair
- Open Command Prompt as administrator
- Run a system file check to repair corrupted system components that may prevent Windows Security from loading
6, Check Windows Update
- Open Settings, go to Windows Update
- Install any pending updates and restart the device
