I wish to buy Microsoft Word

My subscription for Microsoft 365 Personal has expired. I do not want to renew it as I do not use most of the features.

I do, however, wish to use Word. Can I purchase Microsoft Word as a one time package?

Please forward details of how I can do this.

There is a way to use Microsoft Word without renewing a Microsoft 365 subscription, but Word is not sold by itself for home users.

You can try a one‑time purchase version of Office (no subscription), such as Office Home 2024. You can pay once, install it on your device, and you can keep using it without ongoing fees.

For your reference: Buy Office 2024

If you only need Word occasionally, you can also use Word for the web for free in a browser with a Microsoft account (no installation required), though it has fewer features than the desktop app.

Yes. Word can be purchased as a one-time (non-subscription) product without renewing Microsoft 365 Personal.

To do this:

Go to the Microsoft Store page for standalone Office apps: use the "Go to the Microsoft Store" link in the article under “Can I buy a single app only, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint?”
In the Microsoft Store, search for “Word” and select the standalone Word app for PC or Mac.
Complete the purchase as a one-time purchase (no recurring subscription).
After purchase, download and install Word, then sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy it to activate.

This gives a perpetual license for that version of Word on the device(s) allowed by the product terms, but it does not include Microsoft 365 subscription benefits like cloud storage, ongoing feature upgrades, or Copilot.
