We have an azure resource group that contains an important storage account that was inadvertently deleted. How do we go about recovering this resource group and the corresponding storage account that was contained in it?

    Hi @ Joseph Marcus,

Sorry to hear about the accidental deletion.

As discussed, you were able to locate the storage account; however, the recovery attempt is being blocked due to organizational policies.

Your organization enforces Azure Policies to maintain compliance and governance standards. If a deployment or recovery action violates an assigned policy, the operation will be denied.

Please coordinate with your organization’s Azure administrator or policy owner to review and, if appropriate, modify or temporarily exempt the relevant policy. Once the policy restriction is resolved, you can retry the storage account deployment or recovery.

If needed, share the exact policy error message (including the policy assignment name and definition ID) so we can identify precisely which policy is causing the block.

    Hi Joseph,

First, create the resource group that contained the storage account using exact same name and location. Once that is done, click on link below, and then click Restore button at the top:

    https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_StorageHub/StorageHub.MenuView/~/StorageAccountsBrowse

    User's image

On the flyout panel on right, select subscription, deleted storage account, and click Restore button.

Please note it is limited to accounts deleted within last 14 days and recovery is not guaranteed.

Please click Accept Answer and upvote if the above was helpful.

    Thanks.
