Can anyone tell me if Microsoft have any tools that will convert an old Microsoft Money file ".MNY" into other intermediary file formats ( e.g. QIF , or CSV etc ) which I can then at least transfer into Excel then into my home accounting software.

    Refer to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5075977/converting-an-old-ms-money-file-into-money-in-exce

For this task, unfortunately there is no direct tool or function which is supported by Excel to migrate MS Money file into new Money in Excel template. A workaround would be export the old file to a file format using guideline as in the link below and then you can copy/paste the transactions into Money in Excel template.

Microsoft does not provide a standalone conversion utility that directly converts .MNY files to CSV or Excel. However, Microsoft’s final version of Microsoft Money — Money Plus Sunset Edition — can open .MNY files and export the data into intermediary formats such as QIF, which can then be converted to CSV or Excel.
    Details and recommended Microsoft-supported approach:

Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Edition (the free, final release of Microsoft Money) can open legacy .MNY data files and export account data using the built-in export function.

    Steps:

Install and open Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Edition

    Open your .MNY file

    Go to File → Export

    Choose either:

    Loose QIF (recommended), or

      Strict QIF format

      Save the exported file

Import the QIF file into Excel or another financial application (or convert it to CSV)

Microsoft Money supports exporting financial data using QIF export through the File → Export function.

Once exported, the QIF file can be imported into Excel or converted to CSV format using Excel itself or other compatible software.
