Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To request a refund for a Microsoft 365 subscription that renewed unexpectedly, cancellation must be done first, and then eligibility is checked automatically.
Follow these steps:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
- It is important to use the purchasing account.
- If the subscription was bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store, refund and cancellation must be requested through their support instead.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
- If instead of Manage there is Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire and will not be charged again; no further action is needed for cancellation.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what is shown).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete cancellation. During this flow, refund eligibility is evaluated based on Microsoft’s subscription refund rules and local regulations. If eligible, the refund option will be presented and processed back to the original payment method.
If the subscription was purchased in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, or Turkey, a prorated refund may be available depending on subscription length and local policy.
If refund options are not shown during cancellation or there are issues with charges, contact Microsoft Support via the Contact Microsoft Support path described in the article for further billing assistance.
