Can't set screen resolution to 2560x1080 ultrawide on Windows 10 Del Tower

I four monitors connected to my Del computer. Monitors 1, 2 and 3 are computer monitors. Monitor 4 is a 96" Sony TV. The monitors are setup from left to right, monitor 1, monitor 2 and monitor 3. Monitor 2 is an extension of monitor 1, and monitor 3 is an extension of monitor 2. Monitor 4 (the 96" Sony TV) is a duplicate of Monitor 3.

Monitor 1 is a LG Ultrawide. The resolution on this monitor should be 2560 x1080. However 2560 x 1080 does not appear in the Display resolution drop down menu.

On Windows 10, the available resolutions in the Display resolution dropdown are determined by the graphics adapter and driver, plus what the monitor reports as supported. If 2560 x 1080 is missing for the LG ultrawide, use these steps and checks:

    1. Confirm the correct display is selected
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Display.
      2. In Rearrange your displays, select the LG ultrawide (Monitor 1) so its settings are active.
      3. Scroll to Scale and layout and open the Display resolution dropdown to see all resolutions available for that monitor.
    2. Use the recommended/native resolution Windows normally marks the monitor’s native resolution as (Recommended). If 2560 x 1080 is not listed at all, the graphics driver or connection may not be exposing it correctly. If a different resolution is marked (Recommended), that is what Windows currently believes the monitor supports.
    3. Check cable/port and connection type Some ports or adapters may not support 2560 x 1080 at the refresh rate required:
      • Make sure the LG ultrawide is connected with a cable and port that support its native resolution (for example, DisplayPort or HDMI on the graphics card, not via low‑bandwidth adapters).
      • If the monitor is daisy‑chained or going through a splitter, test it directly on the graphics card.
    4. Update graphics/display drivers If the resolution used to be available or should be supported but is missing, the graphics driver may need updating.
      • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install any available updates. This can update display drivers and may restore the correct resolution options.
    5. Verify per‑display configuration With multiple monitors (including the Sony TV duplicating Monitor 3), each display can still have its own resolution, but when duplicating, Windows will often use a resolution supported by both displays. Ensure the LG ultrawide (Monitor 1) is set as a separate extended display and configured individually:
      • In Display settings, confirm Monitor 1 is set to Extend desktop to this display, not duplicated with another that doesn’t support 2560 x 1080.
    6. Adjust scale and layout if text/apps look wrong Once the correct resolution is available and selected:
      • In Display settings, under Scale and layout, adjust Change the size of text, apps, and other items to a suitable value (preferably the one marked (Recommended)) so content appears correctly at 2560 x 1080.

If, after updating drivers and checking connections, 2560 x 1080 still does not appear in the list for the LG ultrawide, the graphics adapter or its current driver is not exposing that mode to Windows, and the adapter/driver combination must be updated or changed to one that supports the monitor’s native resolution.

    Hi Hirata, Milton Y,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that you are unable to select the native 2560 × 1080 resolution on your LG ultrawide monitor when using a multi‑monitor setup on Windows 10, and that this resolution does not appear in the Display resolution list.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please try the following.

Before proceeding, I need to narrow this down slightly to better understand the configuration:

    1. Which Windows 10 version and OS build is currently installed on this Dell tower?
    2. What is the exact graphics adapter model shown in Device Manager under Display adapters?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Temporarily disable display duplication with the Sony TV

    • Open Display settings
    • Select the Sony TV (Monitor 4)
    • Set it to Disconnect this display This helps prevent Windows from limiting resolutions to a common denominator across duplicated displays.

2, Ensure the LG ultrawide is set as the primary display

    • In Display settings, select the LG ultrawide
    • Enable Make this my main display
    • Reopen the Display resolution list and check again

3, Check advanced display mode exposure

    • In Display settings, select the LG ultrawide
    • Open Advanced display settings
    • Select Display adapter properties
    • Check List All Modes to see whether 2560 × 1080 is available there

4, Use the graphics control panel to expose the resolution

    • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Software, or Intel Graphics Command Center (depending on the adapter)
    • Look for Display or Resolution settings
    • If available, create or enable a custom resolution of 2560 × 1080 at the monitor’s supported refresh rate

5, Verify the TV is not enforcing a shared mode

    • On the Sony TV, ensure the HDMI input used is set to PC or Graphics mode
    • Disable any picture scaling or overscan features This prevents the TV from advertising limited EDID modes that can affect other displays.

    6, Power‑cycle and re‑detect displays

    • Turn off all monitors
    • Power on the LG ultrawide first, then the other monitors
    • In Display settings, select Detect

    Hello

Do you know if your graphic card supports that resolution though?

Can you type cmd in the search on the taskbar and press enter to launch command prompt, then run this command:

    wmic bios get serialnumber

And tell me what the serial number is?

Also, please tell me how the LG screeen is connected. What port is used on the monitor, and what port is used on the computer. What's in the middle - what adapter/converter/dock?
