To cancel the Microsoft 365 subscription that was started on the laptop and request a refund, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page
    2. Locate and manage the subscription
      • Under Services & subscriptions, find the Microsoft 365 subscription that was accidentally started.
      • Select Manage next to that subscription.
      • If instead of Manage the page shows Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not be charged again; no further action is required for cancellation.
    3. Cancel the subscription
      • On the Manage page, select Cancel or Cancel subscription (it may also appear as Upgrade or Cancel).
      • Scroll through and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cancellation.
    4. Request a refund
      • For Microsoft 365 subscriptions purchased from Microsoft, refund eligibility is checked after cancellation.
      • After canceling, follow the guidance in the refund article to see if the subscription is eligible for a refund: How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
      • If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store on iOS, contact their support instead:
    5. If cancellation options do not appear
      • Confirm that the correct Microsoft account is being used.
      • If the subscription was purchased from a third party (e.g., retailer, app store), contact that seller directly to manage billing.

Note: Canceling Microsoft 365 may reduce cloud storage back to the free quota, which can affect OneDrive and Outlook.com usage if the account is over the free limit.
