Hi, I have an active Microsoft 365 Family subscription purchased via Apple App Store. It shows active in Apple subscriptions, but it is not linked to my Microsoft account.

Restore purchases does not work and setup.office.com shows no subscription. I need the Apple subscription manually attached to my Microsoft account.

    Greetings!

This is Tin, I'm happy to assist you, your subscription that was purchased from Apple App Store will be managed by Apple, not directly by Microsoft. That's why its only showing at Apple's subscription. Have you tried to reach Apple Support regarding this?

    Thanks,

    Tin

Apple App Store Microsoft 365 subscriptions are automatically associated with the Microsoft account that was signed in inside the Office app at the time of purchase. They cannot be manually attached to a different Microsoft account.

If the subscription is active in Apple but not recognized on the desired Microsoft account, the usual cause is that the purchase is already linked to another Microsoft account. In that case, signing into Office with the original account used at purchase is required.

    To troubleshoot:

    1. Confirm the subscription in Apple
      1. Open the Apple subscriptions page and verify that the Microsoft 365 Family subscription is active under the correct Apple ID.
      2. Note that subscriptions purchased from the app are billed through Apple and managed there; auto‑renewal and cancellation are controlled in Apple subscription settings, not at setup.office.com.
    2. Try restoring the purchase from the correct app/account
      1. Sign out of the Office/Outlook/OneDrive app where the in‑app purchase was made.
      2. Close and reopen that app.
      3. Use the Restore previous purchase or Restore purchase option in the app and sign in with the Microsoft account believed to be used at the time of purchase.
    3. Check for account mismatch (error 1303 scenario) If the subscription was purchased while signed into a different Microsoft account, the App Store purchase is already associated with that account and cannot be moved. The guidance for this situation is:
      1. Sign out of the Office app.
      2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that was likely used when the subscription was purchased.
      3. Run the restore‑purchase flow again.
      4. If the subscription still does not attach, contact Microsoft Support for manual investigation.
    4. If Office cannot see the App Store purchase at all (error 1007/receipt issues)
      1. Verify in the Apple subscriptions page that the Microsoft 365 subscription is active.
      2. If active, run the Restore previous purchase flow again from the Office app.
      3. If the subscription is expired, renew it in Apple.
      4. If issues persist or a receipt/validation error appears, contact Microsoft Support.

Manual reassignment of an Apple‑billed Microsoft 365 subscription from one Microsoft account to another is not supported in the documentation. Resolution requires using the same Microsoft account that was signed in during the original in‑app purchase, or working with Microsoft Support if the association cannot be recovered.
