According to Grammarly, the add-in has been discontinued, but there is another product called Grammarly for Mac. See https://support.grammarly.com/hc/en-us/articles/39667625469965-Grammarly-for-Microsoft-Word-on-Mac-was-discontinued .

    Hi @MP

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

Based on the information you shared, I understand that you have been using the Grammarly add-in in Word, but today you received an add-in error indicating that Grammarly is no longer available.

After researching and testing in my own environment, I noticed similar behavior, the Grammarly add-in is currently not loading or cannot be added in some Word environments. This suggests the issue may not be specific to your device alone.

To help narrow this down, could you please describe the exact error message you are seeing? For example:

-Does it say the add-in is disabled?

-Does it show a permission or policy error?

-Are you unable to find Grammarly in the Add-ins store?

Additionally, if you are using a school account, it is possible that your IT administrator manages Office add-ins centrally. In that case, Grammarly may have been disabled or blocked at the tenant level, and you would need to contact your IT admin for confirmation.

Please let me know a bit more detail, I’ll be happy to guide you further once I have that information.

Hi. I just received the email from Grammarly. Here it is:

"I can confirm that the Grammarly for Microsoft Word on Mac was recently discontinued."

Problem solved. Thanks so much for your help. Appreciate it very much.

    Hi. Thanks for the reply.

Attached is the photo of the error notification from my end for your reference.

I am also unable to find Grammarly in the Add-in store. I am using a Microsoft 365 subscription from my organisation, and I have confirmed with the IT Department that they did not block any add-ins. For your info, I have purchased Grammarly using my personal Gmail account. Screenshot 2026-02-28 at 10.24.12 AM

The message that the Grammarly add-in is “no longer available” is typically caused by an issue with how the add-in is deployed or with its manifest, rather than with Word itself.

    Try these steps:

    1. Close Word completely.
    2. Reopen Word and check whether Grammarly appears under Insert > My Add-ins (or Home > My Add-ins depending on version). If it is missing, it may have been removed or hidden by the deployment method (for example, Centralized Deployment or a catalog/network share). In that case, reinstall the Grammarly add-in from its original source.
    3. If the add-in still appears but shows the “no longer available” error, it may be due to a manifest problem. Common causes include:
      • The add-in’s manifest file was removed from its deployment location.
      • The manifest’s ID value was changed after deployment without first removing the original add-in from Word.
      • A resid in the manifest is missing from the <Resources> section, is misspelled, or is longer than 32 characters.
    4. If Grammarly was sideloaded during development (for example, via Visual Studio), close all Office apps and the development environment, then restart and sideload again.
    5. If the add-in is managed by an organization (school/tenant), contact the Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm that the Grammarly add-in is still deployed and allowed.

If the issue persists after reinstalling Grammarly, contact Grammarly’s support so they can verify that their manifest and deployment are valid.
