I went to the "MICROSOFT" website and purchased Microsoft Office 2024. Now I cannot get the key. I get an email about the purchase, When I try to get the key it sends me to Softwarediscountusa.com They want an email account and password. I don't want to give them my email and password. I did not purchase from them. I purchased directly from "MICROSOFT"

I bought a "MICROSOFT" product. How do I get that product key?

Edit: And just in case, please provide a link to the MICROSOFT site where I can download Office 2024 to install it.

Edit: Now it looks like Microsoft sent me there. I don't care. I tried entering the stuff and id did not work. How do I get my product key?

Since you purchased from the Microsoft Store, the license might be digital, so you no longer need a product key to activate it. Could you please go to your Microsoft account’s Services & Subscriptions page and check whether the Office Home 2024 product is already associated with your account?

If the product is associated with your account, you’ll see an option to install it on your device, as shown in the screenshot.

If you have received a product key in an email, you can redeem it using the link below.

https://setup.office.com/redeem/enter-key

Click 'Get Started" and enter your 25-character product key.

Ensure you sign in with the Microsoft account you want to use to register your product.

Gunasekar, looks like a good answer. Had to run some errands, returned and did some searches. Bing.com returns four solutions. The first three failed but the last one works. Here are the details:

To find the key in the Registry, press Windows + R, type regedit, and press Enter.

Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform and check the value of BackupProductKeyDefault.

The key is shown there along with about 20 more items. It was updated automatically.

HOWEVER, the purchase process did not inform the user about any such thing. I see that as a serious omission.

Windows 11 should be fundamentally the same in all installations. The test "windows 11" was in the search phrase. It also seems to me that the "MICROSOFT" search engine should not provide wrong suggestions.

So that is one problem resolved. Now to tackle several others. Not the least of which is buying Microsoft Office 2024 via the Microsoft web site, getting turned over to a non-Microsoft web site, and not getting the product key.

Somewhere I messed up and purchased only the Windows 11 key for my desktop. Now back to work on the original problem getting Office 2024 on the notebook. Do a bing.com search for: buy Microsoft office 2024 from Microsoft. This is with bing.com, and again, a Microsoft search engine. The results do not provide a link to anything Microsoft.

Some of the responses and sellers are:

This bears repeating: Microsoft decided it did not like my windows 11 key from a reseller after more than a year of use. How can I determine which of these is legitimate?

And now, again, this does merit repeating: The Microsoft search engine, when asked specifically, would not provide a Microsoft place to buy their product. Will this point be ignored? Probably.

The notebook, where Office is to be installed, using the Edge browser, is on this Microsoft web page:

Did a search with the phrase: microsoft services subscriptions

Received many hits. They are from/for: mychoices.com, bhphotovideo.com,neosystemscorp.com, there is what looks like a huge link article with the specific link: https://account.microsoft.com/services. It wants to sell me Microsoft 365. On the left, click the person looking icon to get the Your info page and all the specifics about me are correct. Click on the Subscriptions icon, it wants to sell me Microsoft 365, and some other stuff but nothing about Microsoft Office. There is an Outlook icon. Right click to open in a new tab does not work. Left click and it wants to sell me Microsoft 365. Nothing about office

Again, these are results from bing, the MICROSOFT search engine with a request that specifically mentions MICROSOFT. I see this as a significan defect in bing.com.
