Open Word.

At the top right of Word, log out of Office.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then log back into Office, your subscription should then be recognised correctly and the popups should stop appearing.

To stop the pop-up reminders after renewing the Microsoft 365/Office license, follow these steps depending on what you are seeing:

1. Confirm the subscription really is active
   • Go to the Microsoft account Subscriptions page and verify the subscription status and expiration/renewal date. Make sure the account used there is the same one signed into Office apps.
   • If the expiration date is wrong or the subscription does not show as active, follow the guidance in Problems renewing a Microsoft 365 subscription or contact Microsoft Support.
2. If you see “Renew your subscription” / “Subscription expired” bars
   • These appear as yellow bars across the top of Word, Excel, etc.
   • Renew the subscription if it is not already renewed:
     • If the bar shows RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, select Buy and complete the renewal.
     • If the bar shows SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRED, select Reactivate, then Buy, or Enter Key if a new product key was purchased.
   • After renewal is complete, close all Office apps and reopen them. Sign in again with the Microsoft account associated with the subscription if prompted. This clears the renewal message.
3. If the subscription is renewed but you still see “subscription canceled” or similar
   • In a Word or Excel app, go to File > Account.

4. If you bought a physical box or card

   • Double-check the renewal status online and the account used in Office apps.
   • If everything is correct but pop-ups continue, contact Microsoft Support for further investigation.
