Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Double charges and unexpected repeat billing must be handled by the Microsoft billing/support team, because only they can see and adjust subscription and payment details.
Use these steps to investigate and then contact support:
- Check for duplicate or recurring charges
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate on the relevant charge. This helps confirm whether:
- A Microsoft 365 subscription has recurring billing enabled.
- Multiple accounts or family members are using the same card.
- Review your order history to see if there are multiple purchases for the same amount close together. Use the Review your order history link from the double-charge guidance if needed.
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate on the relevant charge. This helps confirm whether:
- Confirm it is not a timing or catch-up charge
- Double payments can appear if a previous payment failed (for example, insufficient funds) and Microsoft later successfully re-charged, then also took the next scheduled payment. This can look like a duplicate charge even though it is catching up on a missed payment.
- If you are sure it is a duplicate/incorrect charge
- For duplicate charges for the same order, have the Microsoft account and order number ready and contact Microsoft Store Support.
- For subscription billing disputes (for example, Microsoft 365 being billed twice or billed again after paying for a new subscription), contact Microsoft billing support:
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
- Select the appropriate product (for example, Microsoft 365 & Office).
- Choose a billing-related category such as Billing and Payment updates or Manage my subscription.
- Select Get Help, then Contact Support.
- Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser or request a call.
- Request a refund if applicable
- After identifying the duplicate or incorrect charge, check refund eligibility using the refund process described in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
If support and the tools above cannot find a matching Microsoft transaction for one of the charges, contact the bank or card issuer to dispute it as a potentially fraudulent or misrouted charge.
