I am currently unable to view a particular subscription in the Azure Portal, even though I previously had access to it. The subscription was visible earlier, but it no longer appears in my Azure Portal

    Hi Taylor B

It sounds like you’ve lost sight of a subscription that used to show up in the Azure portal. Here are the most common culprits and what you can try:

1.Make sure you’re in the right directory (tenant)

Click your account name in the top-right corner of the portal and choose “Switch directory.”

If you have multiple directories, cycle through them and see if the subscription appears.

    2.Check your portal subscription filters

Go to Subscriptions in the portal.

Open the filter in the top-left, choose “Portal setting,” and ensure “Select all” is ticked.

Alternatively, use the temporary “All subscriptions” filter in the Subscriptions list.

    3.Verify your RBAC permissions

In Subscriptions > select the subscription (if visible) > Access control (IAM), make sure you have at least the Reader (or higher) role assigned.

If you don’t see the subscription at all, ask a subscription Owner to add you as Reader/Contributor.

4.Clear browser cache or use private/incognito mode

Sometimes stale cookies keep you signed in as a different account.

Try an InPrivate/Incognito window and sign in with the exact user you expect.

Check the following areas in the Azure portal to troubleshoot why the subscription is no longer visible:

    1. Verify the directory (tenant)
      • In the Azure portal, select the account icon in the top-right corner.
      • Select Switch directory and choose the directory where the subscription previously existed.
      • If the wrong directory is selected, the subscription list will not show subscriptions from the other tenant.
    2. Check global subscription filters (Portal settings)
      • Go to Subscriptions in the Azure portal.
      • In the top-left of the page, select the Subscriptions filter option.
      • Select the link labeled portal setting filter.
      • On Portal settings | Directory + subscriptions, under Default subscription filter, either:
        • Select Select all, or
        • Explicitly select the missing subscription if it appears in the list.
      • Return to Subscriptions to see if the subscription is now visible.
Note: The portal setting subscription filter persists and affects all portal experiences. If the subscription is excluded here, it will not appear elsewhere in the portal.
    3. Clear the Subscriptions page list filter
      • On the Subscriptions page, select the Subscriptions filter at the top of the list.
      • Choose All subscriptions or Filtered using portal setting, depending on what is shown.
      • If applicable, clear any option similar to “Show only subscriptions selected in the global subscriptions filter” and select Apply.
      • This removes any temporary filter that might hide the subscription.
    4. Confirm that any subscription exists in the current directory
      • On the Subscriptions page, if no subscriptions appear at all, verify again that the correct directory is selected.
      • If the correct directory is selected and the subscription still does not appear, it may indicate a permissions or access issue (for example, role assignment removed or subscription moved/disabled). In that case, contact the subscription owner or administrator to confirm access.
    5. If no subscriptions are found anywhere
      • If the portal shows a No subscriptions found message even after switching to the correct directory, the account may not have sufficient permissions on any subscription in that tenant. In that case, an Owner or administrator must assign an appropriate role on the subscription.

If the subscription was recently created and cannot be seen, or if there are account flags or tenant issues, a support request may be required through Azure support.
