I am having issues with my email. I changed my password and I am unable to get new emails. My emails are not updating on my phone nor on my computer when I log on.

Hi Elena, did you update the new password on both your phone and your computer after changing it?

When you change your Microsoft account password, email stops syncing until you sign in again on each device. You must update the saved password everywhere the account is connected.

    • On your phone, open Settings, Accounts, select your Microsoft account, and enter the new password.

    • On your computer, open Outlook, go to File, Account Settings, and sign in again if prompted.

    • Sign in at https://outlook.office.comto check if new emails appear there.

If email works on the web but not in the app, the saved password on the device is the cause. Let me know what you see on Outlook on the web. Thanks!

Work through these checks in order:

    1. Confirm the account works on the web
    • Sign in to your email using a web browser (for example, Outlook.com or your provider’s webmail).
    • If sign-in fails, the password change may not have completed correctly. Use the provider’s “forgot password” or account recovery process to set a new password and confirm you can see new mail in the browser.
    1. Update the password in Outlook and on the phone After changing the password on the website, it must be updated in each app:
    • In classic Outlook for Windows: update the account password in the account settings. See Change or update your email password in Outlook for Windows (linked from the context).
    • In new Outlook: select the icon next to the email account name, choose Continue when prompted to sign in, and enter the new password.
    • On the phone (Mail/Outlook app): when prompted that account settings are out of date or that the password is wrong, choose Fix account or similar and enter the new password.
    1. If using Outlook.com, check storage and account status If this is an Outlook.com/Hotmail/Live/MSN address:
    • Check that Microsoft cloud storage and mailbox are not full. If storage is full, new messages will bounce and cannot be recovered.
    • If sign-in is blocked due to unusual activity, follow the steps to unblock your Outlook.com account.
    1. Check Outlook client connectivity On the computer in classic Outlook:
    • Look at the bottom status bar. If it shows Working Offline, go to Send/Receive > Work Offline to turn it off.
    • Make sure the internet connection is working by opening a website.
    1. Verify server and security settings (Mail app / IMAP/POP) If using the Windows Mail app or a non-Microsoft provider:
    • In the Mail app, go to Manage Accounts > select the account > Change mailbox sync settings > Advanced mailbox settings.
    • Confirm incoming/outgoing server names and ports match the provider’s settings.
    • Ensure Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email are checked if required by the provider.
    1. Check filters, rules, and junk If the account is Outlook.com and sign-in works but messages seem missing:
    • Check Other tab, Junk Email folder, and Junk Email settings.
    • Review rules and forwarding to ensure messages are not being moved or redirected.

If, after these steps, mail appears correctly in webmail but not in Outlook or on the phone, remove the account from the app and add it again using the correct password and recommended settings from the provider.
