    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how confusing it can be when you have an MP4 video file ready for your presentation but are unsure how to bring it onto a PowerPoint slide. PowerPoint supports inserting MP4 files directly into a slide, and issues typically happen only if the file format, location, or playback settings are not recognized by the app.

The best resolution is to open your presentation, go to the Insert tab, choose the Video option, and then select the MP4 file from your device so PowerPoint can embed or link it on the slide, which allows you to resize it and play it during the slideshow. If the video does not insert, saving it locally instead of from a cloud location or converting it to a supported codec usually resolves the problem.

May I ask whether you are using PowerPoint on Windows, Mac, or the web version, and whether any error message appears when you try inserting the MP4 file? Please feel free to share more details, and I’ll be happy to help you move forward.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

To add an MP4 video file from the drive to a slide in a PowerPoint presentation on Windows:

    1. Open the presentation and go to Normal view.
    2. Select the slide where the video should appear.
    3. On the Insert tab, in the Media group, select the arrow under Video.
    4. Choose This Device (or Video on My PC).
    5. In the Insert Video dialog, browse to the MP4 file on the drive, select it, and click Insert to embed it in the slide.
    6. With the video selected, use the Playback tab to set options such as Start (On Click or Automatically), Loop until Stopped, and Volume.

For best results, use MP4 files encoded with H.264 video and AAC audio.
