When I put in my debit info, the country area was grayed out to United States, and I'm Canadian, as it also says on my account, any way to fix this?

    Hi,

Have you checked the language and region on the Microsoft account page, i.e. https://account.microsoft.com/profile page?

    #2:

What about Microsoft Windows in Settings > Time and Language > Region?

    #3:

Make sure the URL has en-ca as the regional identifier instead of en-us.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!

The debit card country is locked to the region of the Microsoft account and Store. If the account is set to United States, the payment form will force US as the country and reject a Canadian card.

To fix this, the account and Store region must match the actual country and the card’s billing address:

    1. Change Microsoft account region to Canada
      • Go to the Your info page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Edit profile info.
      • Change Country or region to Canada and save the changes.
      • Reference: steps under Microsoft account.
    2. Change Windows/Microsoft Store region (if redeeming on PC)
      • On Windows 11: Start > Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > set Country or region to Canada.
      • On Windows 10: Start > Settings > Time & Language > Region > set Country or region to Canada.
    3. Add the Canadian payment method after region change
      • After the account region is set to Canada, go to the Payment options page.
      • Select Add a new payment method and enter the Canadian debit card details with the correct Canadian billing address.

    Important limitations and checks:

    • Region changes are recommended only when actually moving countries because items and balances from one region might not work in another, and Microsoft account funds do not move between regions.
    • If there is an existing subscription tied to a different region (for example, a US-region Microsoft 365 or Game Pass subscription), a new subscription for the Canadian region cannot be purchased until the old one expires or is canceled.
    • If the country/region cannot be changed, it may be because it was changed within the last three months, the account is suspended, or there are age-related restrictions.

If the region is already set to Canada everywhere and the form still shows United States, contact Xbox or Microsoft Store support for account-specific help.
