primary password issue

I cannot get access to my passwords for my apps as microsoft is asking me for a primary password which I don't remember.

The primary password being requested is the custom primary password in Microsoft Edge that protects saved passwords. If this password is forgotten, it cannot be recovered.

To regain access to saved passwords on this device, the Edge profile and app data must be removed and then set up again:

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. Go to Settings > Profiles.
3. For the current profile, select the ... menu and choose Delete.
4. Confirm by selecting Remove Profile. This clears local profile data, including the custom primary password.
5. Open Edge again, sign in with the Microsoft account, and turn on Sync so passwords and other data stored in the Microsoft account are synced back to the device.
6. If desired, set a new custom primary password on this device.

Important notes:

• The custom primary password is local to each computer and does not sync to other devices.
• There is no recovery method for a lost custom primary password; deleting the profile and re‑syncing is required.
• Sync should be turned on so that passwords and other data are backed up to the Microsoft account in case the custom password is forgotten again.
