But if it's supposed to be 40 at 1am and 32 at 1pm, wouldn't that still count as after midnight?
Is this a bug in the Weather app?
I just checked the weather before going to bed. I know they predicted the temperature to drop again from the unseasonably warm temperature today, err yesterday, but it says the high today is going to be freezing, but the current temperature is 45°. Shouldn't this be the high? Is this a bug?

This isn’t a bug. Weather apps define the “high” based on the forecasted maximum for the current calendar day (starting at midnight), not the highest temperature in the last 24 hours. Since it’s after midnight and a cold front is moving in, the current temperature (45°F) can be higher than today’s predicted high (32°F). The app is working as intended. Think of the daily high like a scoreboard that resets at midnight. Yesterday’s warmth doesn’t count anymore—today’s forecast only tracks temperatures from midnight onward.
