Hi,

For some reason, the navigation/folder pane has disappeared from outlook web and i can't seem to get it back. This is what i see:

And then when i select the 'Hide navigation pane' button, everything shifts to the left a bit (the From column disappears). So it acts like the pane is there, but just doesn't show it:Screenshot 2026-02-28 094818

Anyone have any ideas please? It's really frustration.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

    Hi Sam,

Glad to hear an update from you. Since it worked in incognito mode, this means that the issue is caused a corrupted browser profile and could be a corrupt Outlook layout setting stored in the browser storage. Let's do steps

    A. Open your Outlook

    B. Open site settings.

    1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
    2. Click Site settings.
    3. Click Clear data (this is important).
    4. Confirm.
    5. This will clear Local storage Layout settings IndexedDB Service worker data Cookies for Outlook only

    C. Do a hard reload.

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + R, or hold Ctrl and click the Refresh button
    2. Then log back in.

If still fails, this could be due to a Chrome extension interfering it. Try to disable all your extensions, refresh the Outlook and check it again.

    Regards,
    Jhun

    Hi Sam,

Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your Outlook navigation pane issue, this could be caused by a browser or user interface glitch in the Outlook web. Try these steps below and see what will fix the problem.

    A. Manually drag the invisible divider. Though you can’t see the folder pane, it may still be there but collapsed.

    1. Move your mouse all the way to the far left edge of the message list.
    2. Slowly move the cursor slightly right.
    3. Watch for the cursor to change to a vertical arrow, resize arrow.
    4. Click and drag to the right.

    B. Reset Outlook Web view.

    1. Press Ctrl + F5, for refresh.
    2. If that doesn’t work: Open Outlook in an Incognito / Private window. Or try a different browser.
    3. If it works there, it’s a cached layout issue.

    C. Clear browser cache.

    1. For Chrome, Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
    2. Select cached images and files.
    3. Clear data.
    4. Restart browser and log back into Outlook.

    D. Switch between new and classic Outlook web. Sometimes toggling the interface resets layout:

    1. Look in the top-right corner for a toggle like: “Try the new Outlook” or “Switch to classic view”
    2. Switch it, then switch back.

    E. Zoom issue check. Sometimes browser zoom breaks the layout.

    1. Press Ctrl + 0 for reset to normal view (100%).
    2. Or manually set zoom to 100% from browser menu.

    F. Try to sign out, reset the browser, and sign in again.

    I hope this works.

    Regards,
    Jhun
