i tried downloading the Windows 11 Insider Preview Feature Update (26220.7934) but besides the fact that it took about 1 hour to (almost) install, it is now stuck at 99% and has been stuck for about half an hour so far,is this normal for this update or is there something wrong with my windows?

    Hello Raul,

There is nothing wrong with your windows. This was not a Cumulative Update but rather a Feature update, similar to updating via ISO

There are several reports of lengthy updates. Took over an hour on my test laptop.

It also was stuck at several percentage points.

    Regards

    Hi Paul,

All the Insider builds have a watermark.

That doesn't mean it's not activated.

The update taking a long time near the end is common, but it should not stay stuck at 99% for that long. Treat it as a stuck Windows Update and troubleshoot it.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Wait a bit longer and keep the PC powered and online
Large feature/Insider updates can sit at high percentages for quite a while depending on connection speed, network settings, and update size.
    2. Restart the PC
If it has been stuck for a long time (well over an hour at 99%), restart the device once and let it boot normally. Windows Update will usually either continue or roll back cleanly.
    3. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      2. Find Windows Update and select Run.
      3. Apply any fixes it suggests and then try the update again from Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
    4. Check internet connection and disk space
      • Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet and confirm the device is connected.
      • Make sure there is enough free space (at least 20 GB for a 64‑bit OS). If space is low, use the guidance in Free up drive space in Windows, then retry the update.
    5. If it repeatedly gets stuck between 51–99%
Microsoft recommends checking for updates again or running the Windows Update Troubleshooter and then retrying from Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

If the update continues to fail after these steps, consider using the Windows Update Assistant from the official download page to manually install the latest feature update on a compatible PC.
