    Hi Sarah,

You would need to file the recovery form in that case.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/help-with-the-microsoft-account-recovery-form-b19c02d1-a782-dee6-93c3-dc8113b20c42

    Some tips to help you:

    1. Use the same device, browser, and IP/location you usually sign in from; consistency matters.
    2. Submit the form from a trusted network you’ve used before (home or office Wi-Fi).
    3. Provide accurate recent passwords; even partial or older ones help.
    4. Enter exact account details: full name, date of birth, country/region as originally set.
    5. List recent activity precisely: last successful sign-in date, services used, approximate dates.
    6. For Outlook/Hotmail accounts, include recent email subjects, recipients, and folders you created.
    7. Add Xbox, Skype, or OneDrive details if linked—gamertag, console ID, or file names.
    8. Use the same recovery email/phone previously associated with the account.
    9. Avoid guessing; leave fields blank if unsure—wrong info reduces chances.
    10. If rejected, wait 24 hours, gather better details, and resubmit once.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!

Try these steps to resolve the incorrect-code issue:

    1. Confirm where the code is being sent
      • Make sure the code is being sent to the correct recovery method (your AOL address or phone) that is listed on the Outlook/Microsoft account.
      • Verification codes are only sent to your primary alias or another email/phone added as a way to verify sign-in.
    2. Check for delays and avoid multiple requests
      • Do not request multiple codes in quick succession. Excessive or repetitive requests can cause Microsoft to temporarily block sending valid codes, which can make older codes invalid by the time they arrive.
      • If there is heavy or compromised traffic from your region, code delivery can be delayed and earlier codes may already be expired when received.
    3. Make sure the latest code is used
      • Use only the most recent code sent. If several emails or texts arrived, ignore older ones and enter the newest code.
      • Ensure there are no extra spaces when copying/pasting the code.
    4. Check junk/spam and filters in AOL
      • In your AOL mailbox, check the junk/spam folder for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com.
      • Mark @accountprotection.microsoft.com as a trusted sender so codes arrive in the inbox.
    5. Verify security info is correct
      • If possible, sign in to the Microsoft account’s security page and review the listed phone number and email:
        • For personal Microsoft accounts: go to the Security basics page and select Update info.
        • Confirm the AOL address is spelled correctly and still accessible.
    6. Watch for temporary security blocks
      • If Microsoft detects unusual activity or many failed attempts, it may temporarily block sending usable codes. In that case, waiting and trying again later with fewer attempts may be required.
    7. Try an alternate verification method
      • If another method is listed (backup email, phone number, or Microsoft Authenticator), choose that instead of the AOL address when prompted.
      • If none of the methods work, select I don’t have any of these (if shown) and follow the prompts to replace security info.
    8. If still locked out
      • Use the sign-in helper or account recovery options from Microsoft’s support pages to diagnose sign-in issues and attempt recovery.
      • Support agents cannot send codes or change account details; only the self-service recovery and verification flows can restore access.
