I redeemed my product key for Microsoft Office Home and Business for 1 PC/Mac 2021, but it didn't work.

So do you no know why they're calling it Office 365 instead of Office 2021, and why it Microsoft is blocking it? This is standard for Microsoft, right, a step in opening any software?

Office 365 (Microsoft 365) is a subscription.

Office 2021 is a one-time purchase. They are different products.

If you bought Office 2021 but it shows as Office 365, that is not correct.

You can still try this first.

Uninstall all Office apps completely from your PC.

Restart the computer.

Then go to https://account.microsoft.com/services

If you see Office Home & Business 2021 there, install it directly from that page.

If the seller provided a separate installation link or guide, do not use it unless the license is showing in your Microsoft account.

Follow these steps to resolve a redeemed Office Home and Business 2021 key that is not working:

1. Confirm the key was redeemed correctly
   • Go to the Microsoft account dashboard and sign in with the same Microsoft account used when redeeming the key at Office.com/setup or Microsoft365.com/setup.
   • Check under Services & subscriptions that “Office Home and Business 2021” appears and is associated with this account. If it appears there, installation and activation must be done while signed into Office apps with this same account, not by re‑entering the key.
2. Check for common product key errors
   • If an error such as “This product key isn’t valid (INVALID_PRODUCT_KEY or ERR_INVALID_TOKEN)” appeared during redemption, verify:
     • The key entered is exactly as printed (no typos, confusing characters like B/8, G/6, O/0).
     • The key is for Office 2021 Home and Business, not for another product (Windows, older Office, volume license, or Microsoft 365 for business). See the “Examples of using the wrong product key” section in Get help with product key errors on Office.com/setup.
3. If the key shows as already used
   • Once redeemed, the key cannot be used again; activation is done via the Microsoft account it was linked to.
   • If Office asks for a key again, instead choose to sign in and use the same Microsoft account that owns Office Home and Business 2021.

   • If the message is “This product cannot be activated because the product key is not valid”, the key has been blocked and will no longer work.
