    Hi,

Go to Settings > System > Sound > Volume Mixer. Locate your browser under the Applications section and make sure its volume is turned all the way up and not muted.

    Or

Play a YouTube video in your browser, then press Windows + Ctrl + V on your keyboard. Can you find Chrome in the list? If yes, make sure it is not muted.

Follow these steps in Windows 11 to fix sound that works in apps but not in Chrome/websites:

    1. Check the output device Chrome is using
      1. Right‑click the Speakers icon on the taskbar and select Open Volume mixer.
      2. In the Apps section, find Google Chrome (or the browser being used).
      3. Make sure Chrome is not muted and its volume slider is turned up.
      4. Confirm the Output device for Chrome is the laptop speakers (same device that works for Netflix/other apps).
    2. Confirm the correct Windows output device
      1. Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Select the arrow to the right of the volume slider to open the list of audio devices.
      3. Choose the laptop speakers (or the device that works with other apps) and test YouTube again.
    3. Check sound settings and that devices are not disabled
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Output, select the laptop speakers.
      3. Select Device properties and make sure the Disable checkbox is not selected.
    4. Reset app sound mappings (if available)
      1. Go to Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer.
      2. Use the option to Reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended defaults (this has resolved similar “some apps have no sound” issues).
    5. Run the audio troubleshooter
      1. Select Start > Settings > System.
      2. Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      3. In the Audio section, select Run and follow the prompts.
    6. Update or reinstall the audio driver
      1. In the taskbar search box, type device manager and open it.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click the laptop’s audio device (e.g., Realtek, High Definition Audio) and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
      4. If the issue persists, right‑click the device again, select Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device, and select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC so Windows reinstalls the driver automatically.
    7. Verify Windows is fully updated
      1. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
      2. Select Check for updates and install any available updates, then restart and test again.

If sound works in other apps after these steps but still not in Chrome, test another browser (e.g., Edge). If only Chrome is affected, reset or reinstall Chrome after confirming the Windows audio configuration is correct.
