    Hi Robert Smith

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Forum!

If it is a Microsoft Surface Dock and the dock shows no power LED and no USB power even when not connected to a computer, this points to a hardware or power failure of the dock (or its power supply), not a Windows or driver issue.

At this stage, the appropriate next step is to contact Microsoft Surface Support for warranty or replacement options:

How to contact Microsoft Surface Support:

    1. Go to https://support.microsoft.com
    2. Select Surface → Surface accessories → Surface Dock
    3. Choose Get help / Contact support
    4. Sign in with your Microsoft account
    5. Enter the dock’s serial number (printed on the dock)
    6. Follow the prompts for repair or replacement.

Hope you'll get this sorted out!

Based on the description (no LEDs lit, no power on any USB ports, and the dock previously having intermittent connectivity), the dock hardware is very likely failing or already failed.

For Surface and Thunderbolt docks, the supported and recommended steps are:

    1. Make sure the original power supply is firmly connected to both the dock and a known‑good wall outlet or power strip.
    2. Disconnect the dock completely from the Surface and from AC power for at least 10–15 seconds, then reconnect power first, and finally reconnect the cable from the dock to the Surface.
    3. Ensure the Surface itself has the latest Surface firmware and Windows updates installed while the device is connected to a working dock or charger. For Surface docks, firmware updates are delivered through Windows Update and the Surface app. See the guidance in Install Surface and Windows updates and Update your Surface Dock.
    4. If the dock powers on (LEDs light) but attached devices intermittently stop working after sleep/hibernate or after rapidly reconnecting the dock, disconnect all Thunderbolt/dock devices, wait 5 seconds, and reconnect them. This addresses known Thunderbolt controller issues where devices show Code 10/24/31/43 in Device Manager after power‑state transitions or rapid re‑insertion.

Given that there is no power LED and no power on any ports even after power cycling and checking the outlet, this points to an internal power or board failure in the dock. In that case, the next step is to treat it as a hardware issue and pursue service or replacement through the device’s warranty or support channel.
