Hi,

I am trying to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 but the Windows update says my PC isn't compatible and I don't have the option to upgrade. PC Health gives me green ticks for compatibility. Any thoughts on this?

I've attached a screen shot.

Thanks

Hi, I'm Rodrigo, and I will help you.
If PC Health Check is saying that your computer supports Windows 11 and the upgrade is not showing on Windows Update, use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to upgrade to Windows 11, download it here:

Windows Update may not offer the Windows 11 upgrade even when PC Health Check shows the device is compatible. This can happen due to safeguard holds, rollout timing, or other compatibility blocks (drivers, apps, features).

Use these steps to move forward:

    1. Confirm compatibility with PC Health Check
      • Open PC Health Check from Start search.
      • Under the Windows 11 section, select Check now and confirm it still reports that the device can run Windows 11.
      • If it reports any remaining issues (for example, TPM or Secure Boot disabled), address those in BIOS/UEFI first.
    2. Check again in Windows Update
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates.
      • If the free upgrade is available, a banner offering Upgrade to Windows 11 will appear and can be selected.
      • If it still does not appear, the device may be under a temporary compatibility hold (for example, due to a driver, app, or feature issue). In that case, Windows Update will offer the upgrade automatically once the issue is resolved.
    3. Upgrade using an alternative method If Windows Update does not offer the upgrade but PC Health Check confirms eligibility, use one of these supported methods:
    • Windows 11 Installation Assistant (recommended for most home users):
      1. Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from Microsoft’s Windows 11 software download page.
      2. Run it as administrator and follow the on‑screen instructions.
      3. When prompted, allow it to download and install Windows 11; the PC will restart several times.
    • In‑place upgrade from ISO (advanced):
      1. Download the official Windows 11 (multi‑edition ISO for x64 devices) from Microsoft’s Windows 11 software download page.
      2. Double‑click the ISO to mount it, then run Setup.exe.
      3. When asked how to get updates, select Not right now to reduce the chance of online‑update issues during setup.
      4. On the Ready to install screen, choose Change what to keep and select Keep personal files and apps.
      5. Proceed with the installation; the PC will restart multiple times.
    1. Prepare before upgrading
    • Ensure Windows 10 is on version 2004 or later and fully updated.
    • Back up important files to OneDrive, another cloud service, or an external drive.
    • Make sure there is sufficient free disk space and that all critical drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware are up to date.

If the upgrade still fails or shows a specific error code, use that code with Microsoft’s Windows 11 upgrade error guidance to determine whether a driver, app, or feature is blocking the upgrade.
