Follow these steps in order on Windows 11 to troubleshoot a Bluetooth device that connects then immediately disconnects:
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
- Open the Get Help app using this link: Run the troubleshooter in Get Help.
- Let it run and apply any fixes it suggests.
- Verify Bluetooth is on and the Cricut is in pairing mode and close to the PC
- Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Put the Cricut Joy Xtra into pairing mode according to its manual and keep it close to the PC while testing.
- Remove and re-add the Cricut Joy Xtra
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Find the Cricut Joy Xtra in the list, select More options (… ) > Remove device.
- Turn the Cricut off and back on, put it in pairing mode.
- Select Add device and pair it again.
- Check battery/power on the Cricut
- Ensure the Cricut Joy Xtra has stable power (fully charged or properly powered).
- Power it off for 30 seconds, then power it back on and try pairing again.
- Update Bluetooth drivers from Device Manager
Even if the latest driver appears installed, force a check and, if needed, reinstall.
- Select Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter (may include the word “radio”) and select Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers and follow the prompts.
- Restart the PC when finished.
- Check for Windows Updates
- Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates and install all available updates.
- Restart the PC and test the connection again.
- If the issue started after a recent update or driver change
- Fully shut down the PC, turn off power at the PSU or unplug the power cable for a few minutes, then reconnect and boot again. This can clear certain hardware/firmware states that affect Bluetooth.
If the Cricut still connects and immediately disconnects after these steps, test another Bluetooth device (for example, headphones or a mouse). If other devices also disconnect, the issue is likely with the PC’s Bluetooth stack or hardware; if only the Cricut fails, contact Cricut support for device-specific firmware or compatibility guidance.
