Hello, this is Ashley Jackson. I just signed up the new account for OneDrive use two weeks ago. I tried signing in to the new account but I don’t remember the password. It’s ******@outlook.com. But, when I click on reset now. It asks for my contact email address. I closed the tab and i have been trying to reset my password for the other account

so, I am filling out the form where you have to wait till they respond. I did it just now

I am stuck without my account. Is there any way to fix this?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

You did not add any recovery phone number or email address to verify your identity when setting up your Microsoft account.

    User's image

    Verify ID2 image

Because the account is very new, you likely cannot prove your identity using the account recovery form. Since you may not have used the account yet for activities such as sending emails or adding subscriptions, the chances of successfully verifying the account through the recovery form are very low. Please note that the Account Recovery is an automated process with no human influence.

So, if you are asked to fill in the recovery form when trying to reset your password here:

    https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

then you may need to consider creating and using a new account, as recovering this account might not be possible.

To regain access to the new Outlook/OneDrive Microsoft account when the password is forgotten and the reset process is asking for a contact email, follow these steps:

    1. Use the official password reset flow
      • Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page for that address.
      • On the Enter password screen, select Forgotten your password?.
      • Or start from Reset password here: Reset password.
      • Enter the Outlook email address of the new account and select Next.
    2. Verify identity using the contact email
      • When prompted for a contact email address, enter an email account that can currently receive mail (this is just for Microsoft to contact, it does not have to be the same as the Outlook account you’re trying to recover).
      • Microsoft will send a verification code to that contact email.
      • Enter the code to continue.
    3. Complete the recovery / security verification
      • If normal verification options (phone/email) are shown and accessible, choose one, select Next, then Send code, and enter the code you receive.
      • If you don’t see any usable verification options or no longer have access to them, use the Sign-in helper tool linked in the article:
        • If there is no option for where to send a code, or you no longer have access to any options, use this sign-in helper tool.
        • If you don’t recognize the verification options, use this sign-in helper tool.
    4. If password reset still doesn’t work
      • If the standard reset flow fails or the account/password “stopped working,” follow the guidance in My username and password have stopped working and use Recover your account: Recover your account.
      • Make sure the Outlook address is typed correctly and with the correct domain (for example, outlook.com vs a country-specific domain).
    5. If access is still not restored
      • If the recovery form has already been submitted, wait for the response from Microsoft. Responses typically come to the contact email provided.
      • For additional help with filling out the recovery form and improving the chances of success, review Help with the Microsoft account recovery form and provide as much accurate information as possible about the account and its usage.

If none of the verification options are available and the recovery form is unsuccessful, support agents cannot override the automated recovery process or directly reset the password; only successful verification through the official flows can restore access.
