An integrated threat protection solution designed to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats across Microsoft 365 services.
To cancel a Microsoft 365 trial subscription, use the Microsoft account or the admin account that was used to start the trial and follow these steps.
For a personal Microsoft 365 trial (for home, e.g., Microsoft 365 Family):
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the trial.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find the Microsoft 365 trial.
- Check what is shown under the subscription:
- If you see Cancel: select Cancel and follow the prompts to cancel the trial.
- If you see Turn on recurring billing: recurring billing is already off; the trial will end on the Expires on date and no further charges will be made.
- If you see Paid with: None and no Cancel link: the trial will end automatically on the Expires on date and you will not be charged.
After cancellation or expiry, Office will eventually go into View Only mode. Documents can still be opened and printed, but not edited or newly created, and subscription services like extra OneDrive storage will no longer be available.
For a Microsoft 365 business trial (admin center):
- Determine the billing account type (MCA or MOSA) and license count, because that controls the cancellation options.
- If it is a self-service purchase or trial visible in the Microsoft 365 admin center, an admin can:
- Open the subscription details page.
- In Subscriptions and settings, select Take control of this subscription if shown.
- Then select Cancel subscription, choose a reason, and confirm.
- If cancellation is not available in the portal, turn off recurring billing so the trial does not renew, or contact support from the admin center for assistance.
If the trial is for a specific service such as Power BI or Fabric:
- Power BI license trial or Fabric capacity trial started as an individual:
- Open the Account manager in the service.
- Select Cancel trial.
If none of the above options are visible or the account cannot be accessed, contact Microsoft support using the appropriate support channel for the product and region and request help cancelling the trial.
