Hi Yury Kanapliou,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum! Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!
I completely understand how frustrating it is to encounter this "download error," especially on a fresh laptop installation where every other Office app updated smoothly.
Based on my research, instead of waiting for the tool to fix itself, we can manually download the specific update package and install it over the current one.
Method 1: Manual Update
1. Visit the official Microsoft page: Update history for Office for Mac.
2. Scroll down to find the list of applications.
3. Locate the row for OneNote.
4. Click on the "Update package" link to download the file directly (it will be a few hundred MBs)..pkg
5. Once downloaded, run the file to install it. It will automatically detect and upgrade your current OneNote version.
Method 2: If the step above does not work, the original OneNote application file might be corrupted. You may need to reinstall it.
Before proceeding, please log in to OneNote Online (via a web browser) to confirm that all your notes are fully synced to the cloud. This ensures you won't lose any unsaved data during the uninstallation.
1. Open Finder > Applications.
2. Drag the Microsoft OneNote app to the Trash.
3. Reinstall OneNote via the Mac App Store, or log in to portal.office.com to download the installer
Reference: Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac
I hope this helps get your OneNote up and running! If you have any concerns or questions, or if I misunderstood or was unclear about anything, feel free to reach out anytime.
