Hi,

UNABLE TO INSTALL OFFICE 2024 DUE TO LOGGED IN AT FIRST AUTOMATICALLY BY COMPANY ACCOUNT FROM WHICH I LAID OFF BEFORE PURCHASING THIS LAPTOP.

Activation key is going to that account and company moved all employees account to new domain i.e. (from intelliswift.com to @ltts.com)

1. Open Settings
2. Go to Accounts
3. Choose Email & accounts
4. Under Accounts used by other apps, look for any work/school domain.
5. Remove it if present.

Do you see the Work account there?

1. Press Win + R
2. Type: dsregcmd /status
3. Press Enter
4. Look under Device State:
   • AzureAdJoined : YES → device is joined to a work tenant
   • WorkplaceJoined : YES → account is still connected

Office 2024 (and Microsoft 365) must be installed and activated using the same type of account the license is associated with. In this case, the device is still tied to the old work account from the previous employer, which no longer exists in its original domain, so the activation cannot complete.

Use these steps to resolve:

1. Confirm which account owns the Office 2024 license
   • If Office 2024 was bought as a home product (retail/online store), it must be linked to a personal Microsoft account, not the old work account.
   • If it has not yet been linked, go to https://setup.office.com, sign in with a personal Microsoft account, and redeem the product key so that the license is associated with that personal account.
2. Remove the old work account from Office on the laptop
   • Sign out of all Office apps that show the old company account.
   • In Windows Settings, remove the old work/school account under Accounts → Access work or school, if it is still listed.
   • This prevents Office from trying to activate against the decommissioned company tenant.
3. Sign in with the correct account and reinstall if needed
   • Go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and sign in with the personal Microsoft account that now holds the Office 2024 license.
   • From the Apps page, select Install apps → Install to download Office 2024, then run the installer and let it complete.
   • When prompted in any Office app, sign in with the same personal Microsoft account to activate.
4. If using a work/school subscription instead of a retail key
   • If the license is actually part of a Microsoft 365 for business subscription, a license must be assigned in the new @ltts.com tenant before installation will show as available. If there is no active license in the new domain, the subscription cannot be used and a personal license (Microsoft 365 or Office 2024) must be purchased and linked to a personal Microsoft account.

If, after signing in with the correct personal account, there is still no option to install Office, use the Microsoft 365 Software page (https://aka.ms/office-install) or contact the current organization’s IT admin if a work/school license is expected.
