This forum is just a user to user forum, no-one here has any account access, using any Microsoft account you may have, try using the steps they provide on this link to find out what that second payment was for.

Then use the steps they provide on this link to cancel whatever that payment was for and get a refund.

If you are still unable to resolve that second payment problem, you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly, try using this method to contact their support.

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Select Microsoft 365

    Click 'Get Home Support'.

In the box provided, type billing.

Press Enter, then on the next page, scroll down and click 'Sign in to Contact Support'.

Navigate to Microsoft 365 and Office - Manage my Subscription.

Select the 'Chat with support agent in web browser' option

There are several common reasons why two Microsoft 365 Personal charges can appear on a credit card even though the first one succeeded:

    1. Catch-up after a previously failed or late payment
If a payment could not be taken earlier because of insufficient funds or another issue, Microsoft keeps retrying until it succeeds. This can cause a “late” payment and the next “on time” recurring payment to appear very close together and for the same amount on the statement. In that case, they are for different billing periods, not a duplicate charge.
    2. Multiple subscriptions or accounts using the same card
If more than one Microsoft account (for example, a family member’s account) is using the same credit card, each subscription can generate its own charge. In that case, only one of the charges will appear in a given Microsoft account’s order history.
    3. Change in billing pattern or previously declined charge being processed
A previously declined charge can later be successfully processed, which may appear as an extra charge near the regular renewal.

To verify what happened and confirm whether this is truly a duplicate charge:

    1. Check Microsoft order history
      • Sign in and review the order history for the Microsoft account used for Microsoft 365 Personal.
      • Look for multiple purchases for the same amount that appear close together and confirm the product and dates.
      • If, for example, there are only the expected number of subscription charges over the last few months, then Microsoft has not actually charged twice even if the dates are close together.
    2. Use the “Manage your payments” investigation tool
      • Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate on the relevant payment method. This helps identify if another Microsoft account is using the same card and generating additional charges.
    3. If it is a true duplicate charge for the same order
      • If the same order was charged more than once, have the Microsoft account and order number ready and contact Microsoft Store or Billing Support so the billing team can review and correct the duplicate charge.

If the charge is unauthorized or accidental (for example, not linked to any subscription in the account), use the refund and unauthorized purchase guidance and contact support so they can securely review the account and payment details.
