Hello Susan Watt, thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum. Please refer to the following two documents that show how to make a call using the dial pad:

However, if you are calling someone who also uses Microsoft Teams within your organization or is a guest user, you don’t need a phone number or dial pad.

    • From Chat: open a chat with the person and click the Video call or Audio call icon in the top‑right corner.

    • From the Calls tab: select Calls on the left side of Teams, type their name in the search bar, and select the call icon.

If you want to call regular phone numbers from Teams, your Business account must have a Teams Phone license, which enables the dial pad. You can see the Microsoft Teams Calling Plans here: Microsoft Teams Calling Plans and you can check your recent license here https://portal.office.com/account/?ref=Harmony#subscriptions

Please note that renewing your Microsoft Business account did not renew your Skype Number, as these are separate systems. Since your Skype Number expires on March 4, you must act immediately if you want to keep that specific +4XXX number. Once it expires, it may be released back into the pool and become unrecoverable.
