A desktop publishing application from Microsoft that focuses on page layout and graphic design.
Hi, Lowe, Emily
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
In Publisher, those “margin/alignment” lines only show up when the right guide options are turned on, and sometimes an update or a glitch flips them off, even if it looks like nothing changed.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Go to View and make sure Guides (and Boundaries, if you see it) is checked. Without this, margin and grid guides can be “there” but invisible.
Go to Page Design > Layout and tick Align to Objects and Align to Guides. That’s what brings back the pink/purple “snap” lines when you drag items near each other or near margins.
Go to Page Design > Guides > Grid and Baseline Guides, then OK, even if you don’t change anything. This refreshes the layout guides (including margin guides) so they can start behaving again.
If it still won’t show, try launching Publisher in Safe Mode once, or run an Office Repair. People have reported that one of these “resets” whatever got stuck and the lines return.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.
