Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hello Thomas Longstaff,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
I understand that you are confusing with Payment by Checking Account in Maine. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.
To answer to your question, yes, paying by withdrawal from a checking account (bank account) can be available in the U.S., including Maine, as long as that payment method is supported for your account/region.
This is how to check (and add) a checking account payment method
- Go to your Microsoft account Payment options page (sign in if prompted).
- Select Add a new payment method.
- Choose Bank account and enter your checking-account details.
- Save it—then it should appear as an option during checkout for eligible purchases/subscriptions.
If this is for an existing Microsoft 365 subscription (recurring billing)
Sign in to Services & subscriptions, find your subscription, select Manage > Change how you pay. If you don’t see the option you want, choose Add a new way to pay. Important note
Please note that not all payment methods are supported in all regions, so the most reliable “availability check” is whether Bank account appears for you when adding a payment method.
If you tell me whether you’re trying to pay for:
- Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Basic?
- The purchase is made through Microsoft Store (direct) or a third‑party retailer?
- You are asking about new purchases or recurring billing renewals?
With this information, I can assist you further if you need.
I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.
Best Regards,
