I have a photo-editing app NX Studio. I was attempting to download photos from my icloud and the download is frozen. Even when I cancel download it keeps downloading. I have shut off the computer and each time i open the app it says it is processing the download

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how frustrating it is when a download freezes and continues processing even after you cancel it, especially when it restarts every time you open the app.

This behavior usually occurs when the application’s background tasks become stuck or when cached download data becomes corrupted, causing NX Studio to resume a process that can no longer complete. Restarting the computer alone often doesn’t clear this because the app stores its pending download queue inside its local cache or temporary workspace, which must be reset manually. Resetting the app’s temporary files, signing out of iCloud within the app, or removing the app’s background task folder typically forces NX Studio to stop the frozen process and start clean the next time you launch it.

To better guide you, may I ask whether NX Studio is installed on Windows or macOS, and whether you downloaded the iCloud photos through iCloud for Windows, iCloud Drive, or directly through NX Studio’s import tool? Once I know this, I can help you clear the stuck download safely and get the app working normally again. Feel free to follow up  I’m here to help.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

Use Task Manager to fully stop NX Studio, then restart it so the stuck download process is cleared.

    1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open Task Manager in Windows 11.
    2. In the Processes tab, find NX Studio (and any related helper processes if visible).
    3. Select it and choose End task. It may take a little time if it is still trying to talk to iCloud or the network.
    4. After it closes, reopen NX Studio and check if it still shows the old download as processing. If the app has its own download/queue panel or preferences, clear or remove any pending iCloud download jobs there.

If the app continues to resume the same frozen download every time it starts, also try:

    • Disconnecting the PC from the internet, starting NX Studio, and cancelling/clearing the download queue while offline.
    • Rebooting Windows once more after ending the task, then starting NX Studio fresh and initiating a new, smaller iCloud download batch to test.

If none of this stops the behavior, the remaining options are to:

    • Check NX Studio’s settings for any “resume previous download” or “background sync” option and disable it.
    • Uninstall and reinstall NX Studio so its local download state is reset (ensure photos already downloaded are backed up first).
