Account does not exist

I have a business account and am trying to access the admin page. When I try to log in, it says the account does not exist, but I can sign in to my email using that domain. I am assuming my global admin is not being located for some reason. How do I recover that information or have it reinstated?

    Hi Daniel Plowman

I think that you’re signing into is valid for email but not currently recognized as a tenant admin account. This usually happens if the domain was set up for email services but the Microsoft 365 tenant itself wasn’t provisioned correctly, or the global admin role was removed or never assigned.

Double-checking that you’re logging in at the right portal (https://admin.microsoft.com) please. If you still get the “account does not exist” message, it’s possible your tenant isn’t fully active. In that case, you’ll want to confirm whether your organization actually has a Microsoft 365 subscription tied to that domain, not just email hosting.

If you do have a subscription, you may need to contact whoever originally set up the tenant to see if they still hold the global admin role. If that person is no longer available, you can open a support request with Microsoft to have ownership verified and reinstated. They’ll walk you through domain validation to prove you’re authorized.

If everything is okay, don't forget to share your experience with the issue by "Accept answer". If you need more information, feel free to leave a message. We are happy to help!
